About Jai Shreya
Jai Shreya’s journey began with a love for stories and creativity. She pursued a Bachelor’s in Mass Communication, initially drawn to the creative world. But Development Journalism introduced her to something deeper, the lived experiences of communities and the possibility of using communication to engage with social realities. This led her to pursue a Master’s in Communication for Development, from Tezpur University, bringing together her creative interests with her growing commitment to development work.
Her professional journey has taken her across diverse spaces. She has worked with Development Alternatives, Samadhan NGO, Rajya Sabha and PRADAN, gaining experience in communication, grassroots engagement, field research, community mobilisation, public policy and storytelling.
She works with SRUTI as an Assistant Programme Executive, supporting its fellowship programme while also handling the organisation’s communications. Her work brings together programme coordination, documentation, storytelling and creative communication, while engaging with themes such as land and forest, displacement, labour, social security, gender, food rights, Adivasi rights, climate change and environmental justice.
Her journey has gradually taken her from communicating about development to becoming more closely involved in the work itself. At the heart of it remains a simple curiosity: to understand people, tell their stories with purpose, and explore how communication can contribute to social change.
