Abhishek Sarna

Abhishek holds a post graduate and graduate degree in Sociology from Jamia Milia
Islamia and Hindu College, University of Delhi respectively. He has also pursued a
certificate course in Folklore and Intangible Cultural Heritage from IGNCA, New Delhi.
His training in the discipline of Sociology has made him sensitive to the intersectionality
of caste, gender and class issues. He is particularly drawn to the realm of culture and
worked on the folk art of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, Aipan for his master’s
dissertation.
He has worked with Udyam Trust as an English and Social Science educator. Before
joining SRUTI, he served as a Research and Communication Assistant, handling
proposals, concept notes, website content, and workshop coordination.
He possesses an aesthetic sense and interior designing is his cup of tea. He is passionate
about literature, particularly Indian fiction and Bengali literature and listening to
Rabindra Sangeet is what fascinates him. He is a food connoisseur and finds pleasure in
cooking and trying regional cuisine. Abhishek is an advocate for women’s rights and
issues and is desirous of an egalitarian society, devoid of the entrenched patriarchal and
caste based norms and practices.
When he is not at his desk at the office, one can spot him discussing food, spices, culture,
fiction and handloom.
