As convener of the Minority Coordination Committee in Gujarat, Mujahid is working for the rights and welfare of minority citizens in Gujarat. The objective of the Committee is to analyze and understand the prevalent inequality and discrimination against minorities, constitutional provisions for their rights; raise the consciousness of the community and coordinate with the government regarding the issues of minorities. The Committee has also raised issues related to employment, education, health and other services to the minorities especially poor and downtrodden people or weaker sections to the concerned authorities in Government.

He is also the national co-convener of the Right to Education (RTE) Forum and has sought legal intervention for the implementation of the RTE Act and the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Policy in Gujarat. He has engaged in bringing various stakeholders together on the subject matter of the functioning of the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board which looks at allocation. of funds only for the development and maintenance of religious places of worship of different religions from the grants of the state government.

He has worked on issues of discrimination in Gujarat, alongside mobilising community members including single women engaged in domestic work, nomadic tribes and urban poor communities for securing housing, clean drinking water, health, education and livelihood opportunities. Through regular interventions in academia and public policy, he has worked closely with government committees, officials and bureaucrats to facilitate constitutional rights and entitlements for marginalized communities.
